2021 Generalissimo

There is no place like Neewollah!

I am so excited for the return of Neewollah as we know it!

The preparation has already begun for this year’s festival which will be October 22-30! To kick off the festivities of our nine day festival, there will be three performances of the musical “The Wizard of Oz”. We then move on to our annual Chili Cook-Off, 5K/10K and Fun Run events, the Crowning of Queen Neelah the LXXX, Carnival, Food Stands, Bandstand Entertainment, Three Parades and the Marching Band Festival at Shulteis Stadium! I am so honored to be the 2021 Generalissimo. Sadly this will be my final year on the board but I have so enjoyed the last nine years being able to be a part of keeping this wonderful festival and tradition alive. I have met some amazing people along the way and have been involved in something for which I will always be proud.

I have always loved the Wizard of Oz, and although it was done 24 years ago, I wanted to bring it back. The Wizard of Oz is a family favorite and the messages and lessons we learn from it are timeless and still very relevant today. Friendships, courage, heart and the importance of HOME! 2020 was full of challenges but as we come out on the other side and on the road back to normalcy, we will remember, There Is No Place Like Kansas, There Is No Place Like Independence, There Is No Place Like Home and “There Is No Place Like Neewollah”!
