As we are fast approaching on 2023 coming to a close, I can’t help but

reflect back on the many timeless memories I made with my family and

friends during Neewollah 2023. It was so amazing to see all of you in

attendance at all of our wonderful events. Whether you were supporting a

cast member in the phenomenal production of Beauty and the Beast,

cheering on your favorite queen candidate, or clapping and singing along to

your favorite Oak Ridge Boys’ song, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Although it was a bit chilly towards the end of the week, the three parades

went off without a hitch and was so memorable and fun for me seeing you

all in the streets waving. It truly warmed my heart and a moment I’ll cherish

forever. One very special moment was having my brother drive me in the

kiddie parade and my mom sitting beside him. To top it off on Saturday of

grand parade day, my boys and their families rode along with me and will

remember that moment in time FOREVER!!!!

I would also like to give a huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors that

make Neewollah possible year after year, and the hundreds of fantastic

volunteers that help put this nine-day festival on. Neewollah could not

continue without all of the support of everyone involved and I truly

experienced firsthand all of the love and appreciation this community has

for Neewollah. Truly amazing!!!! Independence definitely knows how to

put on a celebration. Thank you as well to the City of Independence and

officers and security for your many tireless hours keeping the citizens of

Independence safe and making Neewollah 2023 just what I set out to

do………..a Beautiful Moment, Timeless Memory!!!!

Welcome to Neewollah 2023 –

Beautiful Moment, Timeless Memory

Neewollah has been a part of my life since I was a small child and Independence, Kansas, is

one amazing place to live. I have made many memories here and some of my favorite

memories have been at Neewollah with my family and friends.

As we embark on our 65 th celebration of the “rejuvenation of Neewollah,” this year, my heartfelt

thanks to the amazing sponsors and hundreds of phenomenal volunteers that support this

festival year after year. It really is amazing to see our community come together and create

such beautiful moments to cherish a lifetime. Whether you are a musical lover and attend a

performance of the award-winning Beauty and the Beast, the Queen Neelah talent and

coronation to support these talented young ladies, or venture to the bandstand, carnival, craft

fair, or the three fun-filled parades, I hope that you find something during this year that creates a

very special memory for you and your family.

If none of those events have you excited that Neewollah is back and the banners are flying high,

then maybe our reinvented opening day at the park with a barbeque contest and dessert contest

and the 5K/10K and Fun Run, does the trick. It is with deepest pride and great pleasure, we will

be closing out Neewollah 2023 with the amazing and super talented Oak Ridge Boys, who

themselves are celebrating 50 years in the music industry!!!

I am truly honored to serve as Generalissimo 2023 and on behalf of myself and my family, be

our guest, be our guest, please be our guest, and create your beautiful moment, timeless

memory!!!!
